The Process

  1. Award Entry Submission Timeline – 4th August to 9th November
  2. Nominee Selection by the Judging Panel – 10th November to 15th November
  3. Public Voting for the nominee of their preference – 18th November to 30th November
  4. Final selection by Judges – 1st and 2nd December
  5. Employee of the Year Awards Ceremony (Gala) – 9th December 2022 at The Radisson Blu Hotel

Eligibility

  • Entries are open to companies across Kenya.
  • Employees will be nominated/ endorsed by their companies
  • Entries must be for employees who have been with the company for at least a year for the period ending December 2021.

Rules for Submissions

  • Each organization can nominate only one employee.
  • An organization cannot nominate an employee more than once.
  • All submissions must be done through the employeeoftheyear.africa website
  • The nominee panel will not accept any submissions after the 9th November deadline.
  • An employee cannot nominate themselves, their colleagues or friends.

The Employee of the Year Awards (ETYA) is an annual awards event ceremony that seeks to recognize and celebrate the valuable contributions employees make throughout the year in businesses and organizations in Kenya. It is a Workpay initiative

Workpay is a cloud based HR and Payroll Management solution for small and medium sized businesses in Africa.

The nominees were subjected to two rounds of judging panels to select the top 3 winners.

Employee of the Year were chosen based on the following award selection criteria:

  • Excellence in performance
  • Peer-to-peer communication and association
  • Leadership qualities
  • Personal accomplishments
  • Team accomplishments
  • Milestones crossed
  • Number of points earned according to a point system

Our Judges were drawn from a pool of well-respected and experienced HR individuals, HR and Recruitment firms and from IHRM

No, each organization can only nominate one employee for ETYA 2022

The nominating companies are classified into 5 groups based on the number of employees. I.e. 0-10, 11-50, 51-100, 101-500 and 500+ employees

The judges use standard qualities/parameters of employees as submitted by their organizations e.g. Leadership, initiative, innovation, and generally employees who go beyond their role description.

Employee of the Month, Employee of the Year may be chosen based on the following award selection criteria:

  • Excellence in performance
  • Peer-to-peer communication and association
  • Leadership qualities
  • Personal accomplishments
  • Team accomplishments
  • Milestones crossed
  • Number of points earned according to a point system

25 nominees drawn from the nominations received will go for public voting to get the Employee of the Year 2022

ETYA 2022 judges will be drawn from distinguished HR practitioners as well as members of the HR body IHRM
